Position Overview:

The Advanced Development Unit seeks a self-motivated technologist to help develop the products, tooling, and manufacturing methods of the future.

Location:  On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia 

Your Day to Day as an Advanced Development Technologist:

The selected candidate will work with a team of open-minded engineers and technical personnel to:

• Design and draft tooling concepts using 3D modeling software
• Oversee tooling fabrication through tool requests with internal machinists or procurements with external vendors
• Develop and iterate on tooling designs and manufacturing methods to improve quality and repeatability.
• Develop advanced manufacturing processes for next generation components and operate CNC mills to manufacture prototypes.
• Design and execute development work scopes independently and in teams to resolve fabrication issues and generate process improvement ideas.
• Communicate the results of development work scopes by authoring detailed reports documenting areas of success, concern, and opportunity.
• Participates and/or leads project teams to solve problems or initiate new projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
• Must be proficient in 3D modeling and component design.
• Must have prior experience with CNC mills and other machining equipment.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and skills is an absolute must.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative design team is required.
• Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral, are a must.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Pay: $76,000 - $119,000

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
