The Dog Stop ® in Katy, Texas is hiring an experienced Dog Groomer with 2+ years’ experience performing haircuts for a variety of sizes and breeds of dogs. With your expert knowledge, your grooming skills, and talent, and your attention to detail, you will ensure that each dog receives extraordinary care, and that pet parents fall in love all over again with their pups.

Grooming is offered six days a week, so Saturdays are a requirement, and applicants should be willing to work 3-5 days per week minimum. We offer a minimum 50% commission on all grooming services, tips are paid at 100% and grooming continuing education benefits, as well as discounts on all store products and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform grooming services including nail trims, ear and teeth cleaning, anal-gland expression, bathing, brushing, haircuts, and styling, adhering to breed standards and dog owners' preferences.
  • Assess and address each dog's individual needs, considering their coat type, skin condition, and temperament.
  • Monitor dogs for any signs of discomfort, illness, or injury, and promptly report any concerns to dog owners and store management.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by actively listening to dog owners' requests, offering grooming recommendations, and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members and store management to create a positive and supportive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a professional groomer with a strong portfolio of successful grooming work.
  • Knowledge of various dog breeds, their grooming requirements, and common health issues & behaviors.
  • Proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards.
  • Familiarity with grooming tools and equipment, and the ability to handle them safely and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact confidently and professionally with pet owners and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring grooming services are executed accurately and to the highest standards.
